Where Law Meets the Built Environment for Public Good

The Construction Law Forum (CLF) is a unique professional association that brings together lawyers, architects, engineers, builders, quantity surveyors, and town planners under one umbrella with a shared vision: to entrench legality, professionalism, and safety in Nigeria’s construction industry.

We recognize that incidents such as building collapses, premature road failures, abandoned public projects, and poor workmanship are not merely technical defects. They are issues of law, ethics, regulatory failure, and ultimately, injustice to the Nigerian citizen whose safety and taxes are at stake.

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and our core mandate to contribute to national development, CLF undertakes Public Interest Advocacy as a service to Nigeria — advocating for a built environment that is safe, compliant, and people-centered.

⚖

Intervention on Building Collapse and Building Safety

As a Forum of both legal and technical experts, we are uniquely positioned to:

  • Conduct independent fact-finding and technical reviews after major collapse incidents.
  • Provide pro bono legal aid to victims and families to ensure access to justice and compensation.
  • Petition and collaborate with regulatory agencies such as SON, COREN, ARCON, CORBON, QSRBN, and State Development Control Agencies to ensure prosecution of negligence and quackery.

Campaign Against Quackery and Poor Workmanship

CLF stands firmly against quackery in both law and construction.

  • Public enlightenment on the importance of engaging only registered and qualified professionals.
  • Joint advocacy with sister professional bodies to strengthen enforcement against unqualified practice.
  • Operation of a confidential reporting desk where construction workers and citizens can report unsafe sites and unethical practices for appropriate legal and professional action.
